Always inspect plugs and power cords for damage before use.
Do not use plugs with exposed wires, cracks, or loose connections.
Keep electrical plugs and sockets away from water and moisture.
Never overload power outlets or use damaged extension leads.
Switch off and unplug appliances before cleaning or maintenance.
Keep plugs firmly inserted into the socket and never pull on the cord to unplug.
If a plug, socket, or cord becomes hot, smells unusual, or sparks, stop using it immediately and have it checked by a qualified electrician.
Use lights only for their intended purpose. Indoor lights should not be used outdoors because they may not be designed to withstand moisture, temperature changes, or other outdoor conditions.
Check the product label. Look for clear markings such as “indoor use only” or “suitable for indoor and outdoor use.”
Outdoor-rated lights should be designed to cope with rain and moisture, but plugs and connections should still be kept away from standing water.
Use suitable extension cords. When using lights outdoors, make sure extension leads and power connections are also rated for outdoor use.
Inspect before installation. Check for frayed cords, cracked insulation, damaged plugs, loose connections etc.
Keep connections off the ground. Avoid placing plugs, connectors, or power boards where water can collect.

For outdoor displays, consider weather conditions. Strong wind, rain, and extreme weather can damage lights or their electrical connections.
